Happy Anniversary

Just wanted to give a huge shout out to the most perfect lady in the world, my wife Desiree. Here are a few pics of us over the years.

This was the day! 16 June 1997 Bern Township, PA

I beleive that this was my sisters wedding.

This was the first pic of us together in early April 1995 at Midwest City High School

This was taken at the same spot as the piciture above, same school, same tree. However this time was the graduation of our son Dakota.

I wish that I still had hair.

I can't beleive that its been 29 years since we said "I Do". Funny story, everyone kept asking us when are we going to get married. Well Desi was still in High School so we told everyone that we are waiting until after she graduates. Didn't quite work out that way. The evening of the veray day that we got married, she graduated!. So when they called her name to walk across stage, that was the very last time that she would use her maiden name.

Words can't describe how I feel for you.

Love you

80-10 End-Fed Half Wave Antenna III

I tightend up the slack that I had in my 80-10 Meter Lucky 7 Antenna. Here are the new SWR measurements:

Band Frequency SWR
80 3.573 MHz 2.0
40 4.074 MHz 2.0
30 10.136 MHz 3.0
20 14.074 MHz 1.4
17 18.100 MHz 3.0
15 21.074 MHz 1.4
12 24.915 MHz 2.0
10 28.074 MHz 5.8

The SWR measurements made a big increase but not quite where I want them. So I will just need to keep moving on.

If you have any comments please leave them in the comments below. Or you could just email me at Aaron@K5ATG.com

Until mext time stay radio active.

80-10 End-Fed Half Wave Antenna II

Strung up my 80-10 End-Fed Half Wave Antenna. The feed point is a 20 foot tall flagpole right outside my bedroom window. Then it travels west to another mast. From there it goes to the North West cornet of the house. After that it goes South East to the shed. It is 135 feet long, here are the first set of SWR measurements:

Band Frequency SWR
80 3.573 MHz 3.0
40 4.074 MHz 2.6
30 10.136 MHz 5.8
20 14.074 MHz 5.8
17 18.100 MHz 1.9
15 21.074 MHz 1.3
12 24.915 MHz 2.6
10 28.074 MHz 5.8

I tried to set it for all of the FT8 frequencies cause that is where I spend most of my time.

Here is a Google Maps vire of my antenna

I'm calling this the Lucky 7 Antenna. As you can see I got that from that layout

That is all for now. If you have any comments please put them in the comment section below.

Bible Study Sunset

I was leaving Bible Study this evening and was blessed with a beautiful view of the church with a beautiful Oklahoma sunset in the background.

Keychain - 1 Faith

This here is a keychain for my friend Faith C. I have known Faith for several years is in my Small Goup Meeting on Monday Evenings. Small Group Meeting is just another name for Bible Study. She ordered two keychains from me but so far I only have hers finished. Her keychain says "FAITH" and is made from Purpleheart.

Purpleheart is the wood from the Peltogyne Purpleheart is a popular wood that is known by its natural vibrant color of it wood. It grows in South American and is classified as a heardwood. It takes its job as a hardwood very seriously as it is the hardest wood that I regularly work with. Wood is classified by the hardness of it wiid. The higher the number the harder the wood, this is called the Janka Hardness Scale. Here are some examples:

Wood: Southern Yellow Pine    Hardness: 690

If you live in the south, then your house is probably made from this

Wood: Maple     Hardness: 1450

This is used to make work benches, baseball bats etc

Wood: Purpleheart  Hardness: 2520

This is used if you want to dull your saw blades and run through your stash of scroll saw blades. Its pretty heard.

First thing is I put the pattern on the piece of purpleheart and start cutting it out.

Here the keychain is cut out. Notic the bottom edge of the keychain. Its all wonkey. This happens a lot when cutting purple heart because the hardness of the wood really wrecks the blade. I think that I used 3 blades to cut this out.

Here it is all sande and the finish on it.

I had fun making this keychain. Of course I love making stuff on the scrolll saw. If you have an idea for me the try to make just send me and email at: Aaron@gmail.com

Of course leave any comments down in the comments section and hit that subacribe button to be updated on my adventures. It cost you nothing to subscribe but it will easily make my month.

Until next time frienda

Mom

I have not been around here in a bit. On 29 December 2021, my mother passed away. It has hit me a lot harder than expected. Because of my own health issues, I really don't have much to occupy my mind so I just focus on it, and of course that makes it worse.

My mom Bobbie in 1988
She had been in ill health for the better part of a decade. She had been in the hospital because she had just had surgery done on her elbow. She started doing physical therapy and her heart simply stopped beating they revived her and she spent two weeks in ICU then she regained consciousness. For a week I talked to her on the phone, unfortunately, I could not go see her because I had pneumonia and did not want to give it to her. She called me on the evening of the 28th and we talked for a bit. She was in pain and I did my best to calm her. The next morning I got a call from my aunt and she said that her heart quit again, once again they revived her. My aunt then informed the hospital of the DNR that my mom had so they agreed that it would be the last time that they revive her. A few minutes later she went to Heaven. I got to talk to her and about 8 hours later I was asked to write her obituary and was elected to make her urn. Here is her obituary:

Bobbie Ruth Dewitt-Riley was born on 17 December 1952 in Seminole Oklahoma. She is survived by her children Rick Scott, Kim Riley-Klever, April Dewitt, Betty Scott, Ralph Riley and Aaron Scott, Desiree Stidd-Scott, her sisters Lou Dewitt-Smith, Judy Dewitt- Robison, Iona Scott- Bell, her grandchildren Robby Dewitt, Holly Scott, Paul Scott, Haley Scott, Derick Wright Chris Scott, Troy Scott, Dakota Scott, Faith Scott, Brittany Klever-Enyeart, Jessica Riley, Cody Riley, Emma Riley, Hannah Riley, and great-grandchildren Autumn Mullinex, Bradon Davis, Luke Linsey, Jacob, Layla Wright, Drake Wright, Zoey Riley, Mackenzie Riley, Cami Riley, Kayden Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by mother Birtha Butler- Scott, father Theodore Dewitt, sister Lavada Dewitt-Rose, brother James Scott, Granddaughter Lula Pearl Scott, Husband J.D. Riley and son Jay Riley.

Bobbie enjoyed spending time with her family and she also loved to go camping and fishing. She lived her life in her hometown of Clayton Ok, and then in Midwest City, OK

She passed away on 29 December 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK

How do you put into a few words the life of someone that meant so much to so many people?

I will soon get back to my life and this blog but for now I need to take a break to reflect.

Oklahoma Sunset 13 Oct 2021

We had a bunch of tornado-producing storms last night and I guess that they influenced the sunset. So I had to get a few pics.

Both pics were taken with the same camera from the same spot and were about 5-10 seconds in between. The sunset was changing really fast.
