This here is a keychain for my friend Faith C. I have known Faith for several years is in my Small Goup Meeting on Monday Evenings. Small Group Meeting is just another name for Bible Study. She ordered two keychains from me but so far I only have hers finished. Her keychain says "FAITH" and is made from Purpleheart.
Purpleheart is the wood from the Peltogyne Purpleheart is a popular wood that is known by its natural vibrant color of it wood. It grows in South American and is classified as a heardwood. It takes its job as a hardwood very seriously as it is the hardest wood that I regularly work with. Wood is classified by the hardness of it wiid. The higher the number the harder the wood, this is called the Janka Hardness Scale. Here are some examples:
Wood: Southern Yellow Pine Hardness: 690
If you live in the south, then your house is probably made from this
Wood: Maple Hardness: 1450
This is used to make work benches, baseball bats etc
Wood: Purpleheart Hardness: 2520
This is used if you want to dull your saw blades and run through your stash of scroll saw blades. Its pretty heard.
First thing is I put the pattern on the piece of purpleheart and start cutting it out.

Here the keychain is cut out. Notic the bottom edge of the keychain. Its all wonkey. This happens a lot when cutting purple heart because the hardness of the wood really wrecks the blade. I think that I used 3 blades to cut this out.
Here it is all sande and the finish on it.
I had fun making this keychain. Of course I love making stuff on the scrolll saw. If you have an idea for me the try to make just send me and email at: Aaron@gmail.com
Of course leave any comments down in the comments section and hit that subacribe button to be updated on my adventures. It cost you nothing to subscribe but it will easily make my month.
Until next time frienda
